GA Pfretschner violins were made about 1920 in Markneukirchen Germany. I've had this one about 55 years; never got around to repairing it - too much client work. This nasty damage was done by someone before it came to me, by someone who obviously didn't know how to set soundposts. You can almost forgive him, seeing the delicate structure of the left f hole.These beautifully made instruments sell for thousands of dollars now - carefully crafted spruce top with perfect edges and inlaid purfling, maple back and sides ...beautiful varnish coloring, ebony fingerboard, and exquisite scroll. I hope someone will do a fabulous job restoring this lovely instrument. 3/4 Pfretzschner violins usually have a better sound than many full-sized violins. Please don't damage the varnish by attempting to REvarnish it, like I've seen in many old instruments sold on eBay. If you want a candy apple finish on your violin..just buy one of those cheap ones, and get it set up properly. Sorry..l just get aggravated seeing beautiful vintage violins and bows damaged. I have dozens I've saved through the years; and need to sell them now that I'm too old to repair them all!Thank you those who have purchased from me.
