Summary of Duties The Metropolitan Airports Commission is seeking an Equipment Service Worker. An Equipment Service Worker performs routine maintenance and service on cars, trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, and shop equipment. This includes changing oil and oil filters; greasing and lubricating vehicles and equipment; inspecting, repairing, rotating, balancing, and replacing tires; checking and maintaining fluid levels; and detailing equipment. Equipment Service Workers may also assist mechanics with minor repairs. Compensation/Pay Differentials/Incentives Salary Range: $26.339 - $34.686 +$0.60/hour - Class A CDL -OR- +$.40/hour - Forklift Certification +$2.00/hour - Night Shift In addition to competitive hourly wages, workers can also earn overtime and longevity pay. Benefits Highlights Starting vacation accrual of 15 days per year Sick leave accrual of 1 day per month 13 company paid holidays (including two floating holidays) PERA Pension plan with company match Excellent Health, Dental, and Vision insurance Current Shifts* First Shift - 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Third Shift - 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. * Shifts are assigned by seniority, it is anticipated placement will be on third shift. Overtime Overtime typically occurs during snow and emergency events. Employees working overtime may be asked to work off-shift for extended periods of time which could include weekends and holidays. Position Description Check and change oil and oil filters Grease automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment including sweepers, tractors, airport rescue and firefighting trucks, etc. Service, charge, remove, and replace batteries and tires in the shop and the field Check and maintain fluid levels Check vehicles for service due dates Perform light radiator maintenance Steam clean engines and equipment Detail interior and exterior of vehicles Perform general cleaning work in garage and repair shops Assist mechanics as directed in minor repairs and maintenance Drive vehicles to and from service sites Process fleet management work orders and inventory control Keep accurate record of fluids dispersed, vehicle mileage, hours, tires, oil filters, materials and supplies taken from inventory Perform occasional radio installations, removals and minor repairs as directed Perform related work as required or assigned Position Requirements Individual Contributor (IC) Competencies Customer Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions Decision Quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward Action Oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm Optimizes Work Processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement Ensures Accountability - Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives Values Differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization Communicates Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of unique needs of different audiences Courage - Stepping up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said Instills Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity Self-Development - Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels Situational Adaptability - Adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent Valid state-issued driver's license One year of previous professional experience in fueling, greasing, lubricating and detailing of automotive and heavy duty vehicles and equipment - OR - Completion of a two-year technical degree in auto, heavy duty, or agricultural mechanics including an internship Current knowledge of routine maintenance requirements of gasoline and diesel engines Ability to independently perform routine maintenance tasks on vehicles, vehicle engines, and on other miscellaneous equipment Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to keep accurate and routine written records Ability to use a computer to enter and retrieve data Experience using jacks, hand tools and power tools Ability to work long hours and in varied weather conditions Ability to lift, position, and pull 50 pounds and perform heavy manual labor DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS Two-year technical degree in auto, heavy duty, or agricultural mechanics Previous professional experience in tire repair which may include use of tire changing machines, tire balancing equipment Previous experience with computerized inventory control systems Previous experience using fleet management computer software Current ASE certifications in either auto or truck or similar certifications Possession of a valid state-issued commercial driver's license Experience using hoists Ability to report to work within 60 minutes PDN-9be782e1-05dc-4b0f-b59a-e27307b0bdbe
